About the Database

The "Mushihami Database on Insect–Plant Interactions" is a database that collects and provides information on interactions between insects and plants.

Notes on Using the Database

1. Accuracy and Reliability

This database aggregates interaction records between insects and plants from a variety of published sources.
Due to the nature of its compilation, the accuracy and reliability of individual records are not guaranteed.
In particular, because the data involve organisms from two distinct taxonomic kingdoms, users should be cautious about whether each record is based on correct species-level identification.

2. Changes in Taxonomic Systems and Treatment of Older Records

The database includes data from older publications, which may not reflect current taxonomic systems.
For example, a species once considered a single taxon may have later been split into multiple species, leading to potential confusion in older records.

While we strive to annotate the data based on the most up-to-date taxonomy, many entries may remain uncorrected.
In the future, we plan to implement a community note system to allow users to suggest corrections and comments. (This feature is not yet implemented.)

3. Use of Classification Systems and Taxon Names

While based on existing literature, this database organizes and presents data according to a classification system independently defined for this database.
With regard to the classification frameworks and taxon names of specific groups, this database should not be regarded as an authoritative source.
Please consult relevant specialist literature or the latest taxonomic resources when referencing classification systems or taxon names.
